It’s Official! Our First Non-Prof Event!
I’m so excited!!!
Our Farmer’s Market, Cypress Market Nights is hosting our first non-profit event! This is our official release:
Friday, March 12th the Cypress Market Nights presents “A Theatrical Festival” a fundraiser benefiting the Cypress Creek High School Theater Arts Department. Cypress Market Nights are held every Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the corner of Hwy 290 and Skinner Road. The theme of the evening is for people to wear their favorite family friendly costume and come out and enjoy the restaurants, arts and crafts and entertainment.
There will be a silent auction, raffles, face painting, a magic show, various carnival games, sodas and candy sales benefitting the theater group. The Cy Creek students involved in the theater department will be performing various selections throughout the evening, including selected scenes from “Pippin”, the musical that Cy Creek will be performing at the International Thespian Festival held in June in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Stephen Schwartz musical was performed by Cy Creek at the Texas Thespian Festival in November and was adjudicated worthy of performing at the national level. Only eight plays from all over the United States were selected to perform. Approximately $30,000 is still needed to send the cast and crew of 40 students to the week-long event which includes workshops, competitions in individual events and performances. Numerous colleges from throughout the U.S. will also be represented during the festival and this is a great opportunity for these talented students to be seen by and audition for various colleges. Nine students involved in Pippin also qualified for individual events and some of these performances will also be featured at “A Theatrical Festival”.
This is the first time in the Cy-Fair ISD’s history that a Cy-Fair high school play has been asked to perform at the International Thespian Festival . The musical is directed by Marilyn Miller, Cy Creek Theater Department head and long time teacher at Cy Creek . Pippin was choreographed by Jack Degelia. The technical and musical director of Pippin was Paul Copenhaver, with producti on assistance from Marilyn Ocker, both Cy Creek teachers.
Please come out and support the high school theater program and have a great evening of fun at the Cypress Market Nights Theatrical Festival!
